I finally got to watch Coco Avant Chanel with Jon this week and it was the best treat! The film was everything I expected and more... the acting was delivered skillfully by Audrey (as usual!) and the costumes are wonderfully believable. I'm so in love with the scenery of France, and her lover Boy Capel ain't bad either... Right now I am still thinking about all the textures of tweed and lace and her combination of masculine pieces tailored to fit her figure, it was just about the coolest sight when she walked on screen dressed like that amidst a sea of frilly frocks.

What a tragic and amazing story of Coco. ♥

CURVY book launch & exhibit

Hey all, pics from the Magic Pony night are here, thank you to everyone who came out, it was really inspiring to talk to these artists. I was a little nervous at first because I can be totally awkward and clumsy when it comes to important events, but I also felt really good being in such a creative environment, surrounded by some of my favorite people and things. Thanks to Kristin and Steve from MP for organizing it, for the deliiiish cupcakes and also to Tsar Kasim for the first few pics, they are just beautiful - click for his flickr!

Book launch.

It has been quite awhile since my last update, I have some very exciting news. I will be a part of a book launch and exhibit at my favorite art & toy shop EVER (!!!) - Magic Pony (located in Toronto's Queen west area) for CURVY, an annual featuring 120 of the world's best and most exciting female artists. I am very honored to have made the book this year and even more so to represent Canada as there are only 2 artists from the great north :)

The event is tomorrow (today officially) evening at 7 pm with an exhibit from some AWESOME artists both international and home-brewed, I'm especially excited about being in the same show as Junko Mizuno (she designed one of my fav Dunnys of all time) and Tara McPherson! It is such a dream come because I just adooore Magic Pony! Please come out and join the fun, and I'll also be debuting my felt cupcakes and petits fours for the exhibit :)

I am quite happy with my prototypes. There are a few more but I've yet to photograph them. Note to self: buy batteries. The hard thing is narrowing all the designs down. How do you choose a few from a page of 90+ dessert ideas?! Should I just make all of them? ;)
